Who we are
Relief & Aid for Humanity is a nonprofit organization incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, registered under the Companies Act in Sri Lanka dedicated to provide relief and to attend to the needs of differently abled individuals mentally and physically.
Our Mission
To provide relief and attend to the needs of deaf, blind, elderly, and disabled individuals by improving their living standards with emphasis on their mental, physical, medical, sanitization & nutritional needs and shelter.
To provide aid and assist street and wild animals who require shelter, medical attention and food.

Our objectives
relief
To provide relief and pay heed to the needs of persons who are: deaf, blind, elderly, stricken with illness and differently abled.
living standards
Improve their living standards by focusing on their mental, physical, medical, sanitation,
nutritional and housing needs .
advancement
To assist in the advancement of these communities by organizing workshops, providing educational programs, training and other relevant activities.
funding
To aid in providing, funding, or sourcing, opportunities for training and employment amongst the above persons, enabling them a sense of independence and dignity.
equipment
To ascertain and thus provide any individuals in the above categories who may be in need of any specialized equipment, medical care, therapies or assistance.
attention
To provide aid and to assist street animals and other wild animals on the island, who may need shelter, fostering/adoption/care, medical attention and food.
Our Team
Our team is chaired by a former Director General and Project Consultant of United Nations Youth Federation Sri Lanka Mr. Upali K H Bandara. He has also served as Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Hungary Friendship Association, the Peoples Korea Sri Lanka Buddhist Federation and the Sri Lanka Cuba Friendship Society. He is a presidium member of Sri Lanka Russia Friendship Association and a Country Representative for World Peace Council. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman / Managing Director of Association for Development of Lanka’s Differently Abled Persons (NGO) and as the Chairman of Kim II Sung – Kim Jong II Foundation of Sri Lanka.
There are two operational directors, Mr. Wajira M Dharmaratne and Mr. Mahesh S Kapukotuwe, to manage the organization’s project activities. Mr. Dharmaratne is a professional photographer who is interested in social work as well. He has likewise served as the president of the Institute of Sri Lankan Photographers (ISLP). Mr. Kapukotuwe is a retired shipping manager who is passionate about social services. He is a past pupil of Royal Çollege Colombo 07.
Finance functions are handled by a Chartered Accountant and a financial controller, Ms. Saumya Dharmaratne who count over 25 years of experience in the Finance field and has assisted in many top notch companies in Sri Lanka.
Birth of Our Story
Relief & Aid for Humanity (RAAFH) was founded by late Consultant Eye Surgeon Dr (Ms) A Leelanthi Dharmaratne in the year 2017 with the view of upgrading the living conditions of the blind. One of its principal objectives was to improve the vision of those who are treated as blind, but whose vision can be improved. She conducted many events to fulfil this objective. Subsequently, the organization’s goals were expanded to include greater coverage for persons differently abled mentally and physically.
